About Sasquatch Racing
The Sasquatch Racing story starts with founder ‘Marathon’ Matt Forsman neck deep in training for his first 50 miler eons ago.
It was during a lengthy ascent in the magical Marin Headlands, Matt had the idea of creating trail races for runners who might be ‘trail curious’, but had no real interest in enduring a ‘sufferfest’ or running headlong into the ‘pain cave’.
Matt wanted to create trail races for casual, recreational runners who might not have the time, energy, or inclination to tackle ‘ultras’. Right around the time Matt was mulling this over, he caught a glimpse of something in the woods on the side of the trail. It was likely a fatigue induced hallucination, but he SWORE it was a Squatch!
This ‘hallucination’ spawned the name of Sasquatch Racing’s very first ‘trail party’, The Sasquatch Scramble 5K/10K/Half! The idea with the Scramble (and every event since) has been to have fun, explore, and enjoy the magic and beauty of the trails.
Sasquatch Racing’s mission is to create fun, quirky, offbeat, and mysterious running events (live and virtual) that attract an eclectic mix of runners, revelers, urban legends, and everyone in between.
Founder ‘Marathon’ Matt Forsman and Course & Logistics Manager, ‘Trailblazing’ Toby Silver have a combined 30+ years of running (road and trail), racing, and event production experience.
Additionally, they have a lifetime of experience turning people onto the sport of running in unique, offbeat, and sometimes goofy ways.
We like to think of ourselves as a party production company with a trail running problem.
