Inclement Weather/El Nino Contingency plan for Krampus Cross Country 5K/10K

As you may know, there has been A LOT of press coverage of ‘El Nino’ as of late. Exactly ‘when’ it will arrive and how severe it will be is an open question.

The Presidio Trails are special and we’re VERY fortunate to be able to host our event there. Obviously, we want to preserve the integrity of the trails as much as possible.

In order to give you the best experience possible and preserve the integrity of the Presidio Trails, the Presidio Trust has communicated the following inclement weather contingency plan to us that is outlined below.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY.

Inclement Weather/El Nino Contingency Plan

-If there is no rain in the days leading up to race day (Sun, 12/13), no postponement/cancellation is required.

-If there is no rain leading up to race day, but there is rain on race day (Sun, 12/13), no postponement/cancellation is required.

-If there is significant rain for days leading up to 12/9/15, the Presidio Trust will request that we move the date of the race to Sun, 12/20/15. (*NOTE-You will be notified on 12/9/15 if the race needs to be rescheduled to Sun, 12/20/15.)

-If the race IS rescheduled to Sun, 12/20/15 due to inclement weather and there is significant rain for days leading up to 12/16/15, The Presidio Trust will request postponement of the event.

There is a ‘chance’ (a very slim one we hope) that the race may have to be moved to 2016 if we cannot host it on 12/13 or 12/20 due to inclement weather/El Nino.

If this unfortunate scenario occurs, you will be extended a FREE entry into the 2016 edition of the event (we’d aim to schedule it on Sun, 12/11/16).

Alternatively, we can extend you a free 5K or 10K entry into the following races we have currently scheduled for 2016 if this unfortunate scenario occurs.

The Rattlesnake Ramble Half/10K/5K on Sun, 2/7/16 @ Lake Chabot in Castro Valley
The Sasquatch Scramble Half/10K/5K on Sun, 4/17/16 @ Redwood Regional Park in Oakland
The Tick Trailblaze Half/10K/5K on Sun, 6/26/16 @ Huddart Park in Woodside
The Honey Badger Half/10K/5K on Sun, 10/9/16 @ China Camp State Park in San Rafael

Obviously, our sincere hope is that the weather will comply and there will not be any need to reschedule/postpone/cancel.

But, we’d be doing all of you a disservice if we didn’t plan for the possibility of El Nino mucking things up. Cross your fingers, say a few prayers to the weather gods, and hopefully, the weather will comply!
